**SPECIAL EVENT COORDINATOR**

Develops, organizes and manages the City of Sherwood's special events for the Sherwood Parks and Recreation Department. Coordinate and develop the City of Sherwood's yearly events, as well as plan new programs and events, including assigning committee members, conducting monthly event meetings, preparing event agendas and confirming that all services and necessary preparations are in order. Develop a budget using outlined restrictions to insure a successful event. Work with outside vendors and organizations to develop an entertaining and community-friendly event. Develop & coordinate all advertising and marketing for special events, to include coordination with City of Sherwood's Advertising and Promotions Commission and the PIO. Effectively communicate information through written correspondence, oral communication, preparation of reports. Supervises full and part-time personnel engaged with city's events. Represent the facility and the City of Sherwood at trade shows and conventions. Coordinate activities with supervisor to maintain budgets and meet goals. Review relevant programs and discusses improvements; evaluates the adequacy of existing programs and facilities, recommends improvements. Prepares and distribute flyers, posters and other advertisement related to the special events. Produces written reports for department director relating to programming, budget, project status, and staffing requirements; establishes priorities for long-range planning purposes. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

**Qualifications**

Broad knowledge of such fields as event programming, accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience coordinating community recreation programs and organizations. The methods and techniques of program planning and objectives of public recreation. First aid methods and necessary safety precautions used in recreation work may be required. Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar. Comprehend and make inferences from written materials. Effectively interpret departmental policies to employees and the public. Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.
